Privacy Policy

The short version: Prata runs entirely on your iPhone. Your voice and your conversations are processed on the device and are never sent to us or anyone else. We have no servers that receive your data, no user accounts, and no analytics or tracking. We genuinely cannot see what you say.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Prata mobile application (“Prata”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information. It applies to your use of the app. By using Prata, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we do not collect

Prata is designed so that we collect no personal information about you. Specifically, we do not collect, receive, store on our systems, or transmit:

Prata has no user accounts and no login. You do not create a profile to use it.

2. How your speech is handled

When a translation session is active, Prata listens through your microphone and processes the audio entirely on your device using on-device speech-recognition, translation, and text-to-speech models. Recognition, translation, and spoken output all happen locally on your iPhone.

Microphone audio is used only, and momentarily, to produce the transcript and translation, and is not written off-device. Prata requests microphone access solely for this purpose; the audio is never uploaded.

3. Your transcripts stay on your device

The transcripts and translations Prata produces are stored locally on your iPhone so you can review, copy, and share them. They are not backed up to our servers because we have none that receive them. If you share a transcript yourself (for example, via the iOS share sheet), that action — and where it goes — is under your control.

Deleting the app removes its locally stored data from your device in accordance with iOS behavior.

4. Downloading the language models

To work offline, Prata downloads its speech and translation models once, over the internet, from our content delivery network (currently hosted on Cloudflare at files.prata.world). These downloads transfer static model files to your device. Like any web request, our delivery provider automatically processes standard technical information needed to serve a file — such as your IP address, the time of the request, and the file requested — as part of its normal operation and security logging.

These downloads contain no information about your conversations; they only fetch the model files. Once the models are on your device, Prata does not need an internet connection to translate.

5. The App Store

Prata is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you download, purchase, or manage the app, Apple processes that transaction under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive personally identifying information from Apple beyond aggregate, anonymized sales and download reporting.

6. Third parties

Prata does not include third-party advertising, marketing, or analytics SDKs, and does not sell or share personal data — because it does not collect any. The only external services involved are our model-download provider (Cloudflare, described above) and Apple's App Store.

7. Children's privacy

Prata does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. We do not knowingly gather data from children under the age required by your local law.

8. Your rights

Because we do not collect or hold your personal data, there is no personal data on our side for you to access, correct, export, or delete. The conversation data that exists lives on your own device and is under your control — you can delete it by removing it in the app or uninstalling Prata.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this address. Material changes will be reflected in the app or its App Store listing where appropriate.
